Last week was spent up on the Highlands, Cameron Highlands that is, as we had another long weekend holiday in Malaysia.
Upon reaching and checking into the hotel ( We stayed at Nova Highlands Resort & Residences) , I was pleased to see that the Orchid & Rose Farm was situated right in front of the hotel albeit there is some walking to do, mind you.
So off i went to visit the Farm..also, staying at Nova means you have access to the mall which is in front of the hotel, restaurants, bee farms, entrance to the Mossy Forest as well as a few other local attractions. Simply put it, it's the best place, location wise, to spend the night if you plan to do some serious walking and sight seeing .
The Orchid & Rose Farm opens at 9am everyday and closes at 6pm. Entry fee per person is at RM6.00.
Once you have paid the fee, you can purchase fish feed as there is a pond as well as a goat, goose, turkey and rabbits within the farm that you are allowed to feed.
There is a maze like structure throughout the whole farm. First there are the animals, then flowers, roses, orchids, morning glory, hibiscus, etc, and also a small vegetable plantation.
Seeing as how this is the highlands, and it is a farm, proper shoes is a must as it can get a little muddy and slippery.
After your walkabout through the farm, there is a cafe as well as a souvenir shop & mini nursery, selling the potted Orchids, Roses and herbs as well. Be warned though, their price is a little steep for my taste.
Apart from that, there is nothing much to see or do here. It does , however, make a good place to bring your kids to as they are able to see an assorted variety of flowers that are not common back in the city.
